An officeholder’s name is carried by the campaign account, the party account, the district account, three staffers and a parody account, and a constituent has no reliable way to tell which is real. You hold the DNS, so the reverse-link verification Bluesky, Mastodon and others use works out of the box, and nobody else can register the name. That is the check a constituent, a journalist or a moderator can actually make.

One reference against impersonation

A fabricated statement under your name moves faster than any correction. An address you own is the fixed point a newsroom or a platform can compare against while it is still the same news cycle.
