Two objections come up in nearly every conversation about the string. Neither is unreasonable, so here they are with the honest answer to each.

Two things offset it: the string is a single common phrase, so it reads as one unit rather than being spelled out; and the left-hand side is short and clean because the namespace is new. sofia.socialmedia is longer than sofia.com but shorter than the sofia-social-media-official.com that is what is actually still available.
Modern browsers, mail servers and platforms treat all delegated top-level domains identically; this was a real friction point around 2014 and is largely resolved. The residual issue is human: some people are still surprised by an address that does not end in .com. That surprise has diminished steadily with every year of exposure to newer extensions, and we expect it to keep diminishing — though we cannot promise a timeline for it disappearing entirely.
